Barb Eldridge, Co-Chair AIDS Walk Arizona & 5K Run

I became an AIDS activist in 2004 after the sudden loss of my son Rychard to HIV/AIDS at the age of 36. I had made him a silent promise from my heart that I would try to make a difference. My journey of healing began by fundraising for HIV & AIDS charities.  doing all that I could to make that happen.

I began by supporting the Cascades AIDS Walk in Portland with my niece in the fall of 2004. It was then that Team Rychard was established.

I continued to support that walk until 2008 when Phoenix re-established their walk & I began to support Aunt Rita's Foundation.

Over the years I have continued my journey of healing by holding several different fundraisers in the Fountain Hills area. My goal was to not only raise awareness & money for HIV/AIDS but to keep Rychard's memory alive. I believe I have done that by raising well over $100,000 in the past 12 years. I am proud to say that Team Rychard has been one of the top fundraisers for Aunt Rita's Foundation. I am proud to be alongside my friend Richard/Barbra Seville in co-chairing this year's walk! And I am quite sure that my son Rychard is proud of me.
